15 Activities to Do When You're Bored in Quarantine

things to do when you'e bored

A lot of are spending more time at home now than ever because of COVID-19. Working with your significant others while at home and sharing the same space can be difficult. I came up with a list of activities to stay sane and pass time during the long weeks. Here’s the pink knit loungewear set I’m wearing above.

1. Cleaning your room / apartment

Having a cluttered space can take a toll of my mental state. How can you work and be your best self if your environment is messy and cluttered? Pick up your vacuum, duster, mop, and clear your space.

2. Bake a new recipe!

Almond butter chocolate chip cookies, best recipe here
I love a warm cookie for dessert but find that most are very sweet and not that healthy. I love that this recipe uses wholesome ingredients and is superrr simple to make.

3. Learn Traditional Recipes

Clay Pot Rice (I asked my mom to teach me Chinese dishes she grew up eating like tang yuan and sesame mochi balls)

4. Read books

Brene brown daring greatly and little fires everywhere
If you’re not into books, Netflix has a great Ted Talk with Brene Brown and Little Fires Everywhere is streaming on Hulu!

5. Quality time with girlfriend / boyfriend

Aka: cutting each others hair! Since most salons and barbers services are closed, I helped Scott cut his hair. I even attempted to create a fade and it turned out pretty well!

6. Board games

Something about board games like banana grams and puzzles on a raining day sounds just right.

7. Zoom group chats with friends

Pick a date, a topic and gather your friends together for a virtual hangout!

8. Virtual dinner dates

Cook a meal together and share quarantine stories with your friends!

9. Creating a Calm Ambiance

Spraying Perfume or using a diffuser with essential oils. Cutting fresh lemons or boiling cinnamon with apples smells amazing. It reminds me of the holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas.

10. Open the curtains and let light in

Sometimes we forget to open the windows when we’re at home because of the glare against our monitors. I’ve added warm yellow string lights to my room and it’s changed the atmosphere.

11. Tie dye your clothes

I bought bleach pens from Amazon and I can’t wait to “bleach dye” EVERYTHING! They’re compact and convenient even if you don’t plan to bleach dye and just clean up white tees. It’s been a HUGE trend on TikTok to half dye your jeans to create a retro look. Have you tried it?

12. Rearrange your room

I can’t say enough about how rearranging your furniture can make your room feel like new. It transforms the space without having to spend a lot of new on new furniture. But if you’re feeling up to the challenge of painting your room and picking up a few new pieces, check out my YouTube video on My Epic Room Transformation Here.

13. Plant an herb

Make your fresh herbs that you bought during your quarantine grocery runs last longer by planting in dirt or putting in a glass of water. Examples are green onion, basil, and cilantro.

14. Try an easy 10 minute youtube or TikTok workout

Gaining the Quarantine 15? Me too! I’ve found a lot of motivating short videos on TikTok and YouTube that is completely free. Gym membership, we don’t know her! Plus most workouts are 20 minutes or less.

15. Pick up a side hustle or hobby

Starting my blog and YouTube channel was the best decision I EVER made. With the current state of the world, I’m happy that I can still work from home, generate revenue from multiple sources and continue creating content that I feel passionately about. I started my social media career in 2010 and I am SO glad I did! I currently run my blog on Squarespace and it’s super easy to set up. What would you start today?
