Introduction & Get to Know Me :: Meet Ally Chen

INTRO
Hi I’m Ally, a digital nomad from San Francisco, California and full time content creator! There are so many new followers and some that may want to get to know me a bit better outside of my daily posts. No matter when you discovered my page, or decided to hit the follow button. I also wanted to take this time to say, THANK YOU for all of your support on this crazy journey we call life. I’m so appreciative of all the opportunities that have come my way and you have forever changed my life!

BACKGROUND
In 2009, I uploaded my first video to YouTube because I was feeling lonely. Growing up in San Francisco, with lower middle class immigrant Chinese parents, I didn’t have the chance to embrace my creative side. I loved writing short stories, doodling in my notebook in class, and craved a place to share my fashion finds. I felt inspired to share videos on all thing beauty, sewing, crafts, fashion, photography, and travel. I had my fair share of struggles throughout college and felt super confused by my career path.

INSPIRATION
My passion for photography and videography comes from my dad. We would travel once a year on his break and he would film me on his camcorder. My dad’s thirst for adventure led me to America and my mom’s love for fashion gave me an eye for style.

TRAVELS
In 2020, my partner and I decided it was time to put our belongings in storage and start traveling. We started our journey in California by taking a roadtrip to San Diego for 6 weeks in March 2020, then Los Angeles for 6 weeks (I absolutely loved being close to my friend but hated the amount of driving and traffic) in the Summer and then a month in Oahu, Hawaii. In the Fall, we left to Europe. We first stopped in Paris for 2 weeks, you can watch my vlog on my YouTube channel. Then roadtripped all the way down to Nice, passing the champagne region. Then we took a train to Lake Como, Italy, Bologna, Florence, and ended in Rome. Since it was nearing the holidays, I’ve always wanted to see the Christmas Markets. Unfortunately, Covid put a damper on the Christmas Markets so we were only able to go to Bern and Basel, Switzerland. It was a dream come true to see snow in December! We took a short break from traveling but I was off to Thailand on my first press trip of 2022 with a few content creators. In March, we went to Mexico City to explore the culture, food, and art galleries. Then a quick work trip to NYC, it’s been over 2 years since I’ve been back. It’s been a whirlwind year of traveling and there’s so much more I can’t wait to share with you!
