Chantilly, France Travel Guide :: Getaway from Paris

Just over an hour car ride away from Paris is Chantilly. If you’re looking to escape to the countryside, visit a less touristy chateau, experience some of the MOST delicious Chantilly cream and strawberries, you must make a visit to this charming area. Scott and I rented a Tesla for the first time and picked up our car in Paris. It was a very comfortable vacation car. We saved so much on gas and loved the modern tech features like lane assist. We were glad that there was parking on the property of our hotel.

Where to stay - book here

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chantilly for 3 nights in mid August 2022 in a King Suite overlooking a beautiful stream, you can book your room here.

The room

I loved the closet space with lots of organization and pull out drawers. There’s also a full length mirror at the end for ootd pictures. Over a very modern and comfortable room, spacious enough for 2 people.

Le Cottage Spa & Wellness

No getaway is complete with a spa day! It was conveniently located just steps from our room and we hung out at the pool every day in the afternoon. The pool is 15-meter-long and heated at 28 degrees. There’s also a sauna, hammam, sensory showers, and fitness center so you can’t skip on your weekly routine.

Le Cottage Spa + Wellness

Be sure to make reservations to the spa at least one hour before your treatment. You can enjoy the pool or steam room while you wait to relax. I chose the 100% customizable massage, where I could select a scent for my body oil and the length of time between 30-60 minutes. Afterwards, I enjoyed a cup of herbal tea in a quiet room.

Dining at CRAFT Le marché gourmand

Craft changed my mind about buffets. We had both breakfast and dinner here every night because it was SO delicious. From fresh baked bread, cheeses, charcuterie, fresh vegetables, seafood, and homemade desserts. Let me walk you through our experience. Once you’re seated, you can choose between two main courses and enjoy the buffet as you please. They also have a comprehensive wine list, I personally really enjoyed my glass of champagne. See the below gallery of photos for all of the dinner accompaniments (my personal favorites were the tomato carpaccio, roasted cauliflower, the sear fish entree, and strawberry + Chantilly cream dessert.

For a set menu experience, make reservations for Nord on Friday or Saturday.

Château de Chantilly

Travel back in time and learn eight centuries of history, starting with the Duke of Aumale. Wander through halls of fine art and explore the beauty within the library. The tickets were $17 directly on the museum website and we did not need skip the line tickets. Book your tickets to Château de Chantilly here. Be sure to check out the Great Stables show, because we missed the free 30 minute show due to timing.
